My name is Emily Smith, and I am the owner and head trainer at Sit for Pets. With over four years of experience as a certified trainer, I've been dedicated to helping animals since childhood. Although I once dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, my aversion to blood and needles led me down a different path.

At the age of 19, my world was shattered when my younger brother and father were victims of a mass shooting. In the aftermath, I found solace and purpose through Sunny the Therapy Dog and his handler, Angie Moe. Their support inspired me to pursue a career with dogs, leading me to become a certified dog trainer through Animal Behavior College.

I began my journey at an Animal Control Center, where I developed training programs to help dogs become adoptable. As my business flourished, I expanded my expertise and certifications, becoming an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator, AKC Temperament Tester, and Alliance of Therapy Dog Evaluator. My dedication to ongoing learning and expanding my knowledge of dog behavior allows me to provide the highest level of expertise to my clients.

My passion lies in fostering mutually respectful relationships between dogs and their owners, built on boundaries and love. Personally, I share my life with a variety of animals, including my trusty assistant, Remi, a Red Merle Australian Shepherd who assists me in working with client dogs.

Therapy Dogs hold a special place in my heart, inspiring my dedication to integrating animal-assisted therapy into everyday life. I offer a holistic and positive reinforcement-based approach to dog training, including private training sessions, therapy dog programs, and grooming services.

Now, as a certified groomer, I am thrilled to expand my services to include positive reinforcement grooming, further enhancing the well-being of our furry companions.
