Therapy Dog Skills Class:
This six- week therapy dog skills class is taught by professional dog trainers Denise
Sivits-Yoder and Emily Smith. Dogs must possess strong basic obedience
skills and CGC ready/titled and be at least 8 months of age.
If you are thinking about doing therapy work or are a certified team and would like
to learn/build skills for Animal Assisted Intervention work, this class will go over how to
help communicate with your dog on how to be calm, well-mannered
and confident in therapy settings.
This class will consist of field trips, real life experiences and simulated skill building sessions.
Emily and Denise are committed to breaking down each aspect of the skills necessary for AAI.
Reactivity Management Course:
Our Reactivity Management course is designed for dogs who display reactivity, fear, or overarousal toward specific triggers such as other dogs, people, or new environments. Reactivity can present in many ways—barking, lunging, growling, or freezing—but it’s often rooted in fear, frustration, or insecurity rather than aggression.
This 6-week class provides a structured, supportive environment to help both you and your dog build confidence and control around triggers.
Before the class begins, each team will complete a 1:1 evaluation. This private session allows us to assess your dog’s behavior and your handling ability to ensure everyone’s safety. It also helps us understand what the class will need as a group, so we can tailor the environment and exercises appropriately.
What You’ll Learn
-
How to recognize early stress signals and manage them effectively
-
Strategies to maintain distance and focus around triggers
-
Confidence-building and desensitization techniques

Clear communication and trust-building between handler and dog
-
Step-by-step guidance for controlled, real-world scenarios
How It Works
